Soda should be a controlled substance just like alcohol and tobacco. Not necessary in the diet, harmful to liver and health, and should NOT be considered a food item, thus should NOT be able to purchase with food stamps while there is a food stamp program…

I agree with this article completely. However I would take it a step further and cancel all food stamps completely. With our budget problems we should be cutting all government handouts to reduce the burden on people who actually work for a living, not just sit home, collect welfare and food stamps cause they have 12 kids. They are your responsiblity, not the tax payer. I feel the same with medicare, and social security, end it all.

I agree with this 100%. I think that Americans have a huge problem with obesity. We all need to pull together and help out in some way. Thanks for the information.

I love this. I think food stamps should be vouchers for whole foods only. The program is designed to supplement the food budget. If people need help buying food they will certainly need help with the medical bills that result from the consumption of a poor diet. Providing assistance with only healthy whole foods seems like a responsible preventative measure.
