Saw Palmetto is one of the most common herbs used medicinally. The berries of this plant, a native of the southeast United States, are used for supplements to fight prostate and some other health concerns.
Studies have reported that continue use of saw palmetto may provide significant results against Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, also known as BPH.
This condition is characterized by frequent urges to urinate and normally affects men age of 40 and older.
In addition, saw palmetto may help increasing sperm production and sex drive for man and it is commonly found as an ingredient in male performance enhancers. The fruits of the saw palmetto are highly enriched with fatty acids and phytosterols and extracts of the fruit have been the subject of intensive research for the treatment of urinary tract infections.
Studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concluded that 320 mg of saw palmetto per day is a safe and effective treatment for the symptoms of BPH. The clinical effectiveness of saw palmetto has been shown in trials lasting six months to three years.
Most people know the benefits of saw palmetto to support a healthy prostate. However, what it is not very popular is the herb’s potential benefit to prevent another men’s concern: hair loss.
Recent studies have showed that saw palmetto may help preventing and managing hair loss. Clinical studies in balding men have demonstrated that saw palmetto reduces scalp DHT levels and improves hair growth, but some more research is needed to prove all the potential benefits.
Saw Palmetto is a great product and can be taken on a daily basis without any significant side effects.
