Many people start the tanning season without any base tan. Tanning salons will always prepare your skin prior tanning, so you should do the same when tanning outdoors when your skin is exposed to sunlight and, therefore, needs protection.
You should start tanning in early morning hours or late afternoon when the sun is much less intense than in the middle of the day. Stay hydrated and be sure to reapply sunscreen as often as needed. People tend to get distracted and forget to reapply sun lotion, generally resulting in sunburns. Blistering sunburn significantly increases the risk of developing a serious type of skin cancer called malignant melanoma.
If you do get sunburned, treat your skin as soon as possible. Treating a sunburn quickly and with healing ingredients is important to help reduce the damage and to protect against further damage. Gently moisturize the burned area applying sunburn lotion without pulling the skin off.
Dealing with sunburn is important because dead skin cells cannot protect you from the sun and, after your skin peels off, you will be without any protection. Most sunburn relief products can soothe your red and irritated skin.
Aloe Vera is one of the best ingredients for quick sunburn relief. Aloe Vera is antibacterial and has the ability of deeply healing burns because of aloectin B, which stimulates the immune system, as well as the presence of compounds such as polysaccharides, mannans, anthraquinones and lecithin.
