Some supplements make a big “splash” when they first come out. Everyone tends to buy and try the new trendy product. TV shows are normally responsible for the first big impact on most people.
However, the majority of these products do not stay hot for too long. The media generally drops the interest and, therefore, people forget about the product.
Not the case for Chia Seeds.
Chia Seeds have been one of the hottest supplements for a long time. Chia, or Salvia Hispanica, is one of the best natural sources of omega-3.
Most people take fish oil supplements as a source of omega-3. Chia seeds are 100% vegetarian and provide high amounts of omega-3, making the product the best choice for vegetarians and people having difficulties taking fish oils pills.
Originally from South and Central America, Chia seeds are grown without the use of chemicals, pesticides or herbicides. Its seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids (ALA alpha linolenic acid), as well as omega-6 fatty acids (linoleic acids).
Chia is also an excellent source of fiber, helping in the digestion on carbohydrates and maintaining a healthy bowel system.
Chia seeds provides in average 3750 mg of omega 3 and 1050 mg of omega 6 in a one scoop serving size (15g). In comparison, flax seed meals (highest nutritional value among flax seeds) provide an average or 3000 mg of omega-3 and 750 mg of omega-6 per 15g serving size.
