Over the weekend, I was talking with a friend who is only two chemotherapy sessions away from completing her treatment. It's been a long road for her and she is busy planning not one, but many events to celebrate finishing treatment. I was a little surprised when she revealed that she was planning on getting a tattoo after her last chemo session. Nothing against tattoos, but my friend is the conservative type and getting a tattoo is completely out of character for her. When I asked her why, she said "Cancer may have killed me, but it has been the most liberating experience of my life". She said she never wanted to forget the mountain she climbed to get to the top -- the place she felt she was at right now.
