It’s Official: More Vitamin D Is Safe

EFSA’s NDA Panel has recently increased the RDA of vitamin D, the “sunshine vitamin.”  The upper safe limit (UL) has now been set at 4000 IU per day. The revised levels are based on the results of two studies, in which groups of men were given 9,000 – 11,000 IU of the vitamin per day. No toxic effects were observed even with the much higher intake. However, the Panel, taking uncertainties into account, has decided to keep the safe limit at the lower value for the time being.
