Children in schoolAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common condition that begins in early childhood. Popular known as ADD, ADHD is a disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.

If your kids have ADHD, you are not alone. An estimated 2.5 million children in the United States have it but fortunately many kids seem to grow out of the disorder.

A recent study shows that the brain with ADHD develops differently, delayed in maturing an average of three years compared to those without the disorder. The delay is most evident in brain regions that control thinking, attention and planning.

Kids with ADHD are developing the brain the same way as a healthy kid, but it may take a few years longer to accomplish maturity. The study also suggests that a child who has a healthy brain might achieve maturity in most brain regions at age 7, while a child with ADHD might not until age 10.

The most recommended method of treatment is behavioral therapies. Multiple practices will work, but as with any condition, some other actions may help as well.

Natural supplements for focus and attention can significantly stimulate the brain and, therefore, improve child development. Hyperactivity formulas are generally safe to be taken on a daily basis and many parents have reported very positive results. The majority of products offer a combination of vitamins, minerals and herbs to support brain function and promote relaxation as well.
