5 Herbs for Healthy Holiday Meals

1. Oregano

A must add for any delicious meals, oregano is a rich source of antioxidants and vitamin K, which is important to increase the body’s ability to fight off infections as well as improving bone density and blood clotting. With strong antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, oregano may help to treat gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders, urinary tract problems and menstrual cramping.

2. Cayenne Pepper

3. Peppermint

5. Cinnamon

Cinnamon can he added to the baking section of your holiday cooking/baking. Cinnamon can lower blood sugar by slowing the breakdown of carbs in the digestive tract and improving insulin sensitivity. Studies have shown that cinnamon can lower fasting blood sugars by up to 30% in diabetic patients. Cinnamon contains a compound called cinnamaldehyde, which is responsible for its medicinal properties. Additionally, cinnamon has potent antioxidant activity, helps fight inflammation and has been shown to lower cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.
