Bars soap or liquid soap? One of those never ending debates, some people may wonder which one is better? Soaps are needed to maintain proper hygiene. People should wash hands frequently with soap to clean and prevent illnesses. So, let’s start the debate showing the advantages and disadvantages of both bar and liquid soap.

A better choice for the environment, bar soap is typically packaged in paper or cardboard. Most packaging materials are recyclable and can break down more easily in landfills than the plastic liquid soaps dispensers. Additionally, bar soap contain glycerin, good for treatment of dermatological problems such as eczema. Another advantage, there are many bar soaps on the market that are fragrance-free, a better option for people who are allergic to fragrances. On top of that, bar soaps can be more cost effective, generally cheaper than liquid versions. Lastly, you can find a much larger variety of bar soaps, particularly homemade, natural and organic, than liquid ones.

Liquid soap has a good number of advantages as well. One claim against bar soaps is the bacteria factor because people sometimes share the same bar of soap, which may carry germs and bacteria on its wet surface. Bar soap may turn mushy in standing water leading to mess and waste. Liquid soap is definitely a better choice for public bathrooms, reducing exchange of germs between users. Liquid soap convenient use in dispensers or bottles is often preferred over bars for its cleaner use. Liquid soap also contains lower pH level than bar soaps, gentler and suitable for people with sensitive, dry skin.
