bronner.jpgWho doesn’t think about going back to the old days of handmade products, family owned business and real human values. The corporate world may be firmly ingrained in our culture, but we can support those companies that choose to sustain business practices that take us back to the basics. Ever heard of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps? Dr. Bronner’s provides a great starting point if you’re interested in pure products and exceptional business ethics. Family owned, human centered and organic to the core, this company has the history and the success to draw anyone’s attention to their unique style of business and products.

Founder, Emanual Bronner left his family behind in Germany to venture to American in the late 1920s. If not for his entrepreneurial spirit, Bronner may have faced the same fate as his family, most of which died in the Holocaust. His life journey was not easy going, and he faced numerous struggles along his path. Yet, surprisingly he maintained his spirit and his true belief in what he refers to as “All-One-God-Faith,” promoting a world united together in the same spirit of love and compassion. His eccentric personality and strong (sometimes outlandish) convictions continue to speak to us today through the cluster of quotes and visions that line the silk-screened and recycled blend labels of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap.

Though Dr. Bronner passed away in 1997, his son Ralph now continues his father’s mission. Employee’s of Dr. Bronner receive full benefits, all of the products are packaged by hand and the majority of the marketing is done by Ralph who drives cross country to visit people and share the story of his father and their magic soap mission. The company is serious about supporting world causes, donating soap to organizations and providing charitable support around the globe. They believe in dealing face to face, not business to business.

When ordering and using Dr. Bronner’s products, you can be sure that you’re receiving quality items. They are approved by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) , which verifies that none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals. Dr. Bronner’s also supports the Co-op America Woodwise Pledge, the Hemp Industries Association and the Organic Consumer Association’s “Coming Clean” campaign. Following a family vision, Ralph continues his father’s life work10 which he sums up in two sentences:

1.) Constructive Capitalism is where you share the profits with the workers and the earth from which you made it!
2.) We are all brothers and sisters and we should take care of each other and spaceship earth!

Try out Dr. Bronner’s products for yourself. Protect the earth and show your love for companies that are truly run by real people interested in maintaining pure products and some old-fashioned quality humanitarian love.

Dr. Bronner’s eucalyptus soap is an excellent dog shampoo; eucalyptus is a natural flea killer! I will never use chemical flea-killing shampoos on my pups again. The Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap is a wonderful, cooling summertime soap for the family.

There is also a brand of soap I found on – Dr. Woods. Same quality (if not better) and at a great price. Dr. Woods also offers Black Soap, which has become the ultimate facial cleanser for me. Gentle, enzymatic exfoliation – what a wonderful find!

  2. Sarah says:

Emanuel H. Bronner was the maker of Dr. Bronner’s castile soap, a concentrated liquid notable for the vast amount of lather produced from a few drops and the vast amount of tiny text on its packaging. Bronner, whose parents were killed in the Holocaust, promoted a belief in the goodness and unity of humanity. All Dr. Bronner’s classic liquid & bar soaps are not only certified under the USDA National Organic Program, but also certified Fair Trade! In addition, they offer a range of high-quality organic and fair trade personal care products, from lotions to shaving gels – all certified under the same USDA program that certifies organic foods.
