Ear canalIt sounds like the weirdest thing you have even heard. It looks like the strangest thing you’ve ever seen.

But if you have excessive ear wax or ear pain, ear candles may help.

Plain and simple: you stick a hollow candle to your ear, lighting one end and placing the other end in the ear canal. After fifteen to twenty minutes, the candle will draw most of the wax and debris out of the ear canal.

Does it really work? Is it safe to use? Medical researchers say the process isn’t very effective. However, people have been using ear candles for years, and most users describe the experience effective, pleasant and relaxing.

Caution is extremely important when doing an ear candling session. A paper plate or aluminum pie tin is highly recommended to protect the ears from hot wax or ash falling down the side.

The ear canal is a very sensitive part of the human body. Be careful when placing the candle to avoid injuries. Ear candles can be found in health food stores and many websites, and most places also offer instructional videos, DVDs and books on how to use it.

The process is also called ear coning or thermal-auricular therapy and it has being part of is an alternative medicine practice for many years. If you are interested in trying ear candles, make sure to go to an experience ear candling practitioner to learn how to safely use this interesting product.

Since I went in to a GNC store here in town (Bakersfield) they had wallys candles on the shelf. I spoke with the guy there and he swore by these guys. I had to look them up on so I can of course evaluate them myself. Sure enough I found a great amount of good information and since then I have been very pleased with them.

There are people who think that ear wax is a gross thing to talk about – or think that it is not …ear wax (especially because most people deal with it the wrong way!).
