Breastfeeding symbolA recent study shows that breast-feeding benefits babies. Everyone knows that but now this new study suggests that the practice can benefit mothers as well.

Women who have breast-fed are at lower risk than mothers who have not for developing high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases decades later, when they are in menopause, according to the study published in the May issue of the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology.

The benefits of breast-feeding for women can go much further then the bond between mother and baby.

Breast-feeding is known to play a role in healing after pregnancy, by causing uterine contractions that help restore the uterus to its original size more quickly. In addition, women burn extra calories when making milk, helping them eliminate fat stores accumulated during pregnancy.

Some mothers struggle with breast-feeding but can rely on natural supplement to increase milk production.

Several breast feeding aids can help women to support issues such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), breast reduction surgery and to build mammary tissue as well as to safely and effectively increase breast milk within 24 to 48 hours.

Some herbs have been used to support breast milk production for many years. Fenugreek supplements are the most recommended by lactation consultants and can safely increase mothers’ milk supply.

Recent studies have suggested breast-feeding may also reduce the risk of osteoporosis and both breast and ovarian cancer, as well as type 2 diabetes.
