dgl.jpgWe are a society of greasy fast food, high stress and high anxiety.  Acid reflux and stomach ulcers are not uncommon.  With too little time and too many pharmaceuticals, we simply pop a pill and continue along on a path of self-destruction.  Luckily, NBC “Today” reporters have rounded up an important figure in natural health to inform us how to naturally deal with our acid reflux problems.

Dr. Leo Galland, author of “The Fat-Resistance Diet,” spoke with NBC “Today’s” Tiki Barber in the June 21 video recording and subsequent online posting titled appropriately, “Have acid reflux?  Soothe it naturally.”  There are many ways that we can soothe our overtaxed stomachs, beginning with slowing our hurried eating, curbing overstuffing our faces and not hitting the hay directly after a meal.  But when it comes to natures best natural supplements for acid reflux, look to DGL.

Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) is an extract of the licorice root.  But where licorice in its natural form can cause many unwanted side effects like hypertension, DGL is free of the ingredients likely to negatively impact the body, while still containing all of the healthy, natural ingredients of licorice that have been shown to aid in calming acid reflux as well as healing peptic ulcers.  DGL’s anti-inflammatory nature is soothing and nurturing to the body.  So check out NBC’s video recording of Dr. Leo Galland and remember next time the acid starts flowing, soothe your overtaxed esophagus and uproarious stomach with some calming DGL.

I have severe acid reflux. It getting so bad that I find it very difficult breathing – I have the sensation of Asthma or Bronchitis. I suffer with this on a daily basis. Quality of life is bad. What could I take so I can get some relief from this. Your help is appreciated.

The nutritional value of ingredients consumed in commonly eaten foods today is minimal compared to what your body needs to function. Essential elements for health have been stripped in favour of economical demand, resulting in more chemical enhancers, preservatives, additives and contaminants in your food and drink. Even your water and the air you breathe contain pollutants.

Amazing blog. People will get great help from your efforts. Being in the healthcare field it is hard for me not to interject my clinical experiences. I find that there is an intimate relation between the nerves and the organs responsible for heartburn symptoms. It’s often thought of as an outside to in problem. Meaning people think that ant-acids will calm down / reduce the acidity and therefore their heartburn. I have gotten great success with spinal adjustments and allowing the body to regulate itself back to a proper homeostatic environment. The body regulates itself from the inside out. Patients love it when they do not have to take all the chalky pills and liquids before / after each meal. I would encourage anyone with heartburn to seek out a chiropractor in their local area.

I have acid reflux disease. I have had good success with DGL. You can take it at anytime, but if you are having problems, it is best to take one 20-30 min. before eating. I also recommend “Pearls” probiotic……once per day……..
Most of the time I have fairly quick relief after taking DGL and the probiotic…..many times within minutes, and usually well under an hour. Finally, if you eat something and you are not feeling good in your digestive system from it, and you do not get relief in one hour or less from the above, I find “Charcocaps” work very well…..2 every 2 hours. The charcoal tends to bind any toxins and you expel them. Your stool may turn black for 24-72 hours, but this, and all of these, are very, very safe.
I find that the above items work better than any drug, with zero problems and risks associated with typically prescribed or over the counter drugs.
If trying these things work with others after my suggestion, then I am happy that I submitted this.
