Fall season is the time of the year when many people switch from iced teas to hot teas. Many teas rich in flavors are available including everyone’s fall favorites such as pumpkin and cinnamon but we have prepared a list of five healthy, and delicious fall teas.
1. Cinnamon Tea
Nothing smells fall season like cinnamon and this delicious, spicy tea offers many health benefits. Cinnamon has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties which help fighting viruses, such as cold and flu, as well as inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. Filled with potent antioxidants, cinnamon teas may also help to prevent and fight chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis as well as supporting weight-loss by boosting metabolism and stabilizing blood sugar levels.
2. Echinacea Tea
Echinacea is widely used to fight infections, especially the common cold and other upper respiratory infections. Some people take echinacea at the first sign of a cold, hoping they will be able to keep the cold from developing or making symptoms less severe. Research has shown that echinacea can help reduces cold symptoms, as well as many other infections including the flu.
3. Cranberry Tea
Cranberry teas are packed with antioxidants and offer good levels of vitamin C and fiber. The antioxidants in cranberries protect cells from damage by unstable molecules called free radicals, which can damage cells and may also contribute to heart disease, and other diseases. Cranberry can also help urinary tract infections as a number of small molecules in cranberries may bind iron. The bacteria that causes a urinary tract infection needs iron to develop and, therefore, the less iron present, the less likely an infection will occur.
4. Blueberry Tea
One of the most flavorful teas, blueberries act as a natural sweetener in both herbal tea and in flavored, caffeinated tea. Blueberries offer many health benefits as they contain vitamins and nutrients such as vitamin C and vitamin K. They are also a healthy alternative to refined sugar or artificial sweeteners.
5. Peppermint Teas
Peppermint tea is a delicious source of health benefits. Peppermint is very helpful to promote relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety. The menthol naturally present in the tea is a muscle relaxant, which is an enormous component of natural stress and anxiety relief. Drinking peppermint tea before bed has been proven to promote more restful sleep.
