CVThe debate is endless. Children’s vitamins have bene around for years but parents are still debating whether or not their children should be taking supplements. A good number of pediatricians believe kids should get vitamins and minerals from a well-balanced, healthy diet but you may be surprised to find out that many pediatricians are highly recommending children to take a multi-vitamin products, but why?

First, many families may find it difficult to feed their children a healthy diet every single day. Busy lives and tight schedules are part of the modern life and (sometimes) time may be short to ensure everyone in the family is eating well. That includes your kids. Food on the run has become a common thing in today’s high tempo life and, just like adults, your kids may be lacking important vitamins and essential minerals.

Second, some parents may struggle to establish a well-balanced diet for their kids. Children need to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as protein and whole grains. Milk and dairy products like cheese and yogurt are also essential for your little ones as it is very important that children obtain plenty of calcium to build strong bones. Let’s not forget iron, which builds muscle and is essential to healthy red blood cells.

Now, let’s talk about the always important vitamins. We can start with the importance of vitamin D, which promotes bone and tooth formation and helps the body absorb calcium. Sunlight is the best source of vitamin D, so get your kids outside as often as possible. Essential to promote normal growth and development, vitamin A also helps bone repairs and promote healthy skin and eyes. B vitamins are important for energy production and they also help to maintain healthy circulatory and nervous systems. Vitamin C can enhance the immune system and help promote healthy muscles, connective tissue, and skin.

Lastly, just like adults, every kid is different and have different diets and levels of activity but with today’s busy lifestyle along with the great quality of vitamin supplements for children, it’s easier to understand the reason doctors are recommending children’s’ multivitamins. As always, talk to your pediatrician before start a multivitamin for your kids.
